There is no washer or anything to fill that gap and keep it stationary. The standoffs fit, but there is room for the backplate to move. The fan must be installed after the heatsink in. I cannot find any youtube videos on people doing anything other than the LGA 1151/AM3 installations, nor can I find anyone discussing how to fit this X bracket with the backplate. There are several ways to install this bracket, as the cooler is compatible with both AM4 and LGA socket CPUs. Their guide on installation is not at all specific about a backplate. Supposedly this is all you need to mount the cooler to the AM4. I got the AM4 X bracket from Cooler Master.
